A visit to Montegridolfo should begin at the Sanctuary of Trebbio, which houses a painting of the apparitions of Our Lady (1548): in the background, it is possible to see Montegridolfo Castle, which has survived intact to this day. This is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and bears witness to an ancient past, on what was the border between the lands of the Malatesta and Montefeltro. Climbing to the village allows visitors to experience the Renaissance first hand: an imposing tower attributable to Francesco di Giorgio Martini protects the ancient Castrum Malatestiano. Stepping through the civic gate, means entering a world of breath-taking panoramic views: a series of surprises thanks to the extraordinary harmony between architecture and landscape. It is a place that combines art and history, the frescoes of the Church of San Rocco with the masterpiece by Guido Cagnacci, and Second World War artefacts of the Gothic Line Museum.
